Limited Prosocial Emotions (LPE)

Limited Prosocial Emotions (LPE) refer to experiencing reduced levels of remorse and guilt, empathy, not caring much about one’s performance and showing shallow affect. Children with conduct problems form a heterogeneous population and within them, we find a subgroup whose antisocial behaviour is particularly severe and persistent. Children with LPE can have poorer outcomes than children with conduct problems only without these traits.

Functional Analysis

Functional analysis is an assessment tool for identifying the functions served by a particular set of behaviours for a given individual in a given set of circumstances.

All behaviour has a function. Concerning behaviours are often a way that someone has learnt to tell us that they have a need which is not being met. Our challenge is trying to understand what the person is communicating to us with their behaviour.

ADHD Gold Standard Interventions

Current treatments for ADHD include a range of social, psychological and behavioural interventions. The NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence) recommends non-pharmacological interventions for mild cases, and pharmacological (in addition to the former), when the disorder is severe and impairs functioning.
